Hi! Glad you found my little spot on the internets. It's not much but it's mine and I value it. That being said, most of my entries are friends locked. I do this because I mention work and sometimes use my real name and others.. So, if you want the dirt, the real dirt, send me a friend request.

Thanks,

Good Grief!

SPOTLIGHT ON: YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN

Good grief! The Peanuts gang returns to our stage this December in our holiday offering, You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. This musical gem opened off-Broadway in the East Village in 1967 where it enjoyed a sold out five-year run. It was revived on Broadway in 1999, earning a Tony for Kristen Chenoweth. The Heights Players previous production was staged in 1988, directed by David Jay Bernstein.

Our current production will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Peanuts, the world famous comic strip, which was created, written and drawn every day for 50 years by Charles M. Schulz. Several of his most popular strips are strung together to create an average day in the life of Charlie Brown and his friends, accompanied by a tuneful score written by Clark Gesner. Mr. Gesner was a very good friend and patron of The Heights Players, and we are proud to present his work again.

For this production, our talented carpenters and technicians will be building a fourth section of seats, transforming our stage back to theatre-in-the-round. This exciting experiment will ideally present this intimate, six-person musical in the most effective way possible. Because of the small size of this cast, we have double-cast our show to provide more actors with more opportunities to perform. But it doesn't matter if you come to see the Peppermint Patty Cast or the Woodstock Cast, you will see great talent either way.

Both casts are made up of newcomers and Heights veterans. Cast names and performance breakdowns are as follows:

Woodstock Cast: Charlie Brown - Peter Waugh; Linus - Tony Montenieri; Lucy - Heather DiBianco; Schroeder - Craig Trachtenberg; Sally - Bridgette Alayne; Snoopy - Eason Smith. Performance dates with the Woodstock Cast are: Friday, December 4 and Saturdays, December 12 and 19 at 8:00 p.m.; and Sunday, December 6th at 2:00 p.m.

Peppermint Patty Cast: Charlie Brown - Tom Patterson; Linus - Chad Africa; Lucy - Laura Mae Baker; Schroeder - Derrick Bryant Marshall; Sally - Alli Loeffert; Snoopy - Eason Smith. Performance dates with the Peppermint Patty Cast are: Fridays, December 11 and 18, and Saturday, December 5 at 8:00 p.m.; and Sundays, December 13 and 20 at 2:00 p.m.

Director Steve Velardi has wanted to work on this show since he saw the original Heights production in 1988 (his sister was in it). He is working with Julianne Merril (Showboat) as musical director, Danielle Giovinazzi (Strivelli Players) as choreographer/assistant director, and Christopher Short (Oberon in Shakespeare in Hollywood) as stage manager. Gina Healy (Intimate Apparel) and Bill Wood (Everything) are bringing the colors of Peanuts to life as costume and set designer, respectively. And heading up our production team is Robert J. Weinstein, producer. Mr. Weinstein will also design the lighting.

Don't miss your opportunity to spend some quality time this December with the Peanuts gang. This is truly a show for children of all ages. Reservations may be made by calling 718-237-2752 or online by clicking here

Where I've been...

  • Nov. 10th, 2009 at 2:45 PM
good news

Where to begin...well first off I have a very good reason for not writing in here for a while and that is that I have been doing lots of real writing, in the real live world. It is with great pride that I can now say that I am co-founder of a theater company. It is called the ‘Alls Well Theater’ (www.allswelltheatre.com ) and my friend and fellow playwright, Hollie Rosenberg, is my co-founder and partner.

How you can help (Looking for a few good stories):

We are currently collecting live interviews on how people found their apartments and roommate experiences to be used in a new multimedia play that I and she are writing together. The goal is to submit the play for various festivals for a (hopeful) premier next summer! Yaaay! If anyone has a story they would be willing to share on camera and would not mind being featured in the play, contact me please! If you are non NYC resident feel free to write out the story and we can have an actor portray it! I have all those pesky legal release forms as well to be signed:-p

Other exciting news!!!

I am playing Lucy Van Pelt in "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" with The Heights Players.

Since there is double casting the dates I am performing in are:

Saturday - December 5th at 8:00pm
Friday - December 11th at 8:00pm
Sunday December 13th at 2:00pm
Friday December 18th at 8:00pm
FINAL Performance December 20th at 2:00pm

There are excellent directions on the website

http://www.heightsplayers.org/

It’s the first large role I have had in a musical for a long while, so I am excited and scared about tenfold more so than other shows I have done.

So, yes, I am being productive.:-DDD

Answers for a stupid question

Recently I was asked by a man who knew me of about 30 seconds why I was single. First off, why do people always ask me this? It is so annoying and frankly I am running out of responses.

On the Nj transit with Wink Sunday evening we tried to come up with some witty responses to this age old question that would put these askers in their place. However we only had about three hours sleep since we had worked all night on Saturday swilling beer to non-tipping losers, so this is the best we got.

Q: Why are you STILL single?

A: I'm actually from the year 1596 and waiting to go home
A: I believe in romance
A: I am in musical theater
A: Well, only this personality is single, the other three have boyfriends.

Any suggestions on good responses? All answers appreciated!

Be careful what you ask for...

Because you may get it.

example:

"Dear Powers That Be. Help me! I am strapped for cash and need a hand. " = Asked to work an all night shift at your club and not going to the Jersey Shore for the weekend as planned. You will then have to call your dad and explain that a few measly dollars means more than a visit and you will see them next month...if you can.

I can't complain but I did allow myself a few tears. Just  about a minutes worth. More seemed excessive in this economy. When the gods answer your prayers it ain't always the way you want it.

At least my living room is starting to look faaaaaaaaaaabulous. Too bad I'm eating Ramen Noodle in it. :-/

Gee, I'm so glad I stopped auditioning and started working full time! The pay increase is...nonexistent! Ain't that a kick in the head?

Please pray that the rich folk want many, many bottles of booze this Saturday night!

I dig my digs

Gotta buckle down and get the apartment in order. C., from England is coming in a week. A week! Good lord, we will frighten her. She was a crazy bitch! She wasn't even English, She was from Illinois and had a fake accent. Last time I let a 'friend of a friend' stay with me .

First of all...CONGRATS TO PIGLET AND JEDI FOR GETTING ENGAGED. Isn't this cool? Yes. Yes it was very cool. So was the wedding:-p

How are you? I'm doing alright I suppose. "Macbeth" began it's run last week. High Schools and middle schools in New Jersey love us. Oh god...I knew a show would pop up...but I have not thought about this in forever! I still hang with a few of the cast members. I did several craptacular shows that year since I was living in Yonkers and not being very picky with city work.

I'm money bitchin'. Feel free to skip. Just need to vent. Hopefully I remember how to do lj cuts. The last time I did one it didn't work Okay..what's new? Actually, looking back...the 06/07 year was friggin fantastic. If only I knew how great it was going to get.

Hello all. I just skimmed the journals back to the 14th and feel a little more in touch. I have been busy
-apt.hunting
-auditioning
-working at FAO
-working at The Blender
-doing my show "Polly Princess, etc"

Oh man... have I changed or grown at all over time?I don't think this was the best show case  of entries but it was interesting.

Also...I am sick! My roommates are sick. Last night we watched "P.S. I Love You" and sniffled and cried and hacked together. It was quite the site.

Argh. So many funny things have happened! I would think to myself "oh, this would make a great post!", but have no time to write. Unfortunately the great narration will have to stay in my head for a while longer as I am simply too tired today to write detailed descriptions of events.

The long and short is I am very busy. My show, "Spoiled Cherries", was a great success. Thanks to all those who came out to Brooklyn to see me.  Funny enough, the day after it closed I was invited to be a part of the Tuckaberry Holiday Cabaret. It's so nice that I have enough friends, contacts and relationships with so many fantastic theater companies that depspite my lack of auditioning I can still keep performing and keeping my acting/singing muscles toned :) i know I am a very lucky ducky indeed.

Party  Planning has exploded. I have parties every weekend and events during the week. It makes the days go by very quickly. Some parties are great and some people just blow my mind with their demands, but all in all despite the many frustrations I still am enjoying it.

The club has been slow, but I have five, count 'em, FIVE shifts next week plus my 40 hours at the store, so yikes!! No rest for the wicked it seems. I mean, seriously, who want's to waste those hours between two and five am sleeping? How wasteful.

On a final note, I am preparing for full mocking by planning to dress up as Dorothy for Halloween at work. Oh yeah.

Finally finally it is Fall. I love the crisp air and the leaves on the ground. Walking through brownstone Brooklyn on my way to the pub for an October ale is such an invigorating experience. Even with the hectic pace that consumes my life I find myself getting off a subway stop earlier just to give myself the pleasure of the experience of this season. Ah Fall!

Sometimes life is actually quite good

Sometimes it takes a little chillaxin’ to realize that life isn’t always the suckery of events it seems to be.

I, of course, am speaking of my own rare three day weekend. It seems that I tend to dwell on the work and stress in my life and very often forget that despite the little daily trials of living in the big, bad city, it’s still a pretty damn good life I have.

Thursday I worked and then headed over to Winks and had a real girl’s night in with food and wine and lots of mindless television. The next day Gmagus and I hopped a NJ Transit train to the Jersey shore. 2 hours later we were at the seaside and on our way to a July 4th barbecue. Now when I say barbeque I don’t want to mislead you. Gmagus’s family is Italian and there were grilled clams, shrimp skewers, hamburgers, ribs, chicken, bacon and sausage. There were several salads and potato dishes and freshly baked bread to sop up the homemade sauces. There were cream cheese stuffed strawberries and cupcakes with blueberries on top with sides of cake and rugellah. It was enough to feed an army, but we did our best.

Later we headed to the beach for fireworks. There was a light drizzle of rain, but it didn’t bother us any. Only my hair. My hair minded very much and protested its ire at the rain by forming a halo of frizz around my head.

That night I went to bar with Gmagus’s sister while he slept in the car. Wimp! I forget that I am considered attractive outside the city and it was a pleasant reminder. The only small incident occurred when a ‘friend’ of the sister tried to feel me up in the car. A few minor slaps didn’t seem to turn him away as did my efforts to crawl out the window of the moving car. I handled it though and promptly told the sister that she could do tons better than that kind of man!

The next day we had BBQ part deux and then headed out to the sisters live art show. She paints the body in many colors and then photographs it. I’m not doing it justice in my description. It’s waaaaaay cool. After out bit of culture we headed into the Asbury Park nightlife scene.  We went to several bars and finally ended up at a lovely beachside bar where we ended up sharing a table with several locals. Seriously, though what is up with the 2am last call? It’s okay though because it leaves you time to head to the Windmill for fresh, hot, melty cheese fries. Mmmmmmmm…cheese fries.

The next day we lounged around since the weather was never quite nice enough for a beach day. Instead we ate home made pasta and custard mixed with Italian ice. Oh gawds, I gained weight on this one!

All in all a perfect mini vacation. I totally get weekenders or “Benny”s, as they call them down there (Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark & New York tourists). Life sometimes it seems can be good.

i JUST WROTE A VERY VERY LONG POST AND IT WAS  ERASED. I am so annoyed.

I finally, finally post and i write this very funny and LONG story about the town of Port Bou, France and it was erased.

I've been waiting for the right mood to tell that story for months. It's very funny and very detailed and took forty minutes to jot down here.

It was my big six week no post return.

This is serious Port boo.

End of story..i quit smoking. Three weeks and counting.

I hate LJ right now so, so much.

I swear I am alive. I just have no desire to write lately. Sorry. Stuff is going on but it's kinda boring.

Big news is that I claim temporary insanity and chopped my hair off. Well, I didn't chop it - a Bumble and Bumble student did. It's awful, but I kind of don't care. It's just hair, right? It falls just under my ears and I can't have a ponytail for the first time since I played Tiny Tim at age 19. Meh.

I used to not be able to cut my hair because of a role I was playing, and since I was always in some show or the other my hair stayed the same for years except when I went through the red hair phase in 2000-2004. Now that I can do whatever I want I make it hideous. :-p

I got promoted at FAO. I am now officially an assistant Party Planner. I still am not doing well enough to quit my second job. double :-p

My social life is uh.......yeah. not so much. What do I do? I sit on the couch where I sleep and watch tv or play solitaire. My life is AWESOME. So that's why I'm not writing. I'm getting rather boring. Yes, FAO gives me celeb parties, but I can't talk about them, so meh. No dates, no shows, no auditions, no adventures really. It's okay. Just not the stuff you write about.

I don't know how to end this entry. Oh ok. One thing. Tuckaberry had an awesome fundraiser last week. It was fun. I sang "Give Me What I Need". It was screwed up so bad! The pianist went back to the beginning of the song at the second verse entry. I don't know when I'll be singing again, so that kinda blew, because I wanted my last song for G-d knows how long to be perfect, but life is not perfect and we get over such things. My balloon animal bit went much better.

Good night everybody!

Winks computure is on the fritz, so I am back at Precision Photo.

* Show opens next Saturday. Come and see it!!!

* FAO is awesome. I think I dig my new job. I get a head microphone and play with toys and make dolls and the people are very nice...I just need more hours. I am so broke. The Blender cancelled two shifts this week. *spazzez*

* Auditions still suck monkey butt. I got to the "Little Women" national tour audition at 7:30 am yesterday and was #110 but I didn't get to sing. I was typed out. Grrrrrrrrrrr...I would not be upset but they kept girls who looked like me...but not ME. *blows rasberry at casting director who types me out ALL THE TIME* Okay I take it back. I love you man. You are so cool and specialo and made of awesome. Can I sing for you now?

* Did I mention that POLLY PRINCESS AND THE PENNILESS FRYCOOK opens next Sat?

Real quick because I'm at gmagus place in Brookyn and really should be leaving soon.

* I am still in reherasal for PPatPF..it open Oct 13th..and I am not near off book. The usual panic of course.

* I chopped off my hair. Okay, I didn't, but Shadow, the hairstylist did. I cheated on my normal stylist because he is kinda pricey and I'm kinda broke. It's like having an affair! It was an impulse decison. I ran into a girl I knew who had long hair and cut it and it looked great and the next thing I know I'm walking into a salon. I went from mid back length to just around my shoulders. It's cute and very thick and layered. I think I like it.

* I hate auditions. I just hate 'em. Had my call back for Fern and they called me old. OLD. They said I read it a bit old and could I please use another voice so I did, but nope. No call back. DAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTT. I, uh, kinda really wanted that job. I also crashed another Equity audition with a psycho pianist who got into a fight with Wink. Can you imagine? She yelled at Wink for five minutes in front of a CD because Wink said she would nod at her when she was ready to sing. Apparently, telling the pianist you are going to nod is offensive. I also went to a cruise line audition where i felt fat and ugly and old. They wouldn't even look at me when i sang but instead read the headshot and resume of the guy before me....so yeah...auditions this week kinda suck.

* Got a job at FAO Schwartz as a toy demonstrator. Yup..toy demonstrator. They remembered me at the interview from when I worked there in 2000. Groovy.

* Still waitressing at Blender. Too bad the shows have not been sell outs. Pooh.

* I really, really need to get off Winks couch.

I'm starting to feel a bit undone here. Like I'm fighting a losing battle. Ah, well. Onward soldier i say. Good things to come, I'm sure! *cough*
